Entwined Dimensions, 2021
Entwined Dimensions is an experimental sci-fi short directed and shot by Kelvin Parra. I was glad to provide the sound design for the short, which I tried to play with cute whirring sounds for the small humanoid in contrast to its larger counterpart. I was excited to hear that the short was selected for the 2021 Catalina Film Festival.
Just over 200 miles east of Los Angeles exists a commune of artists, outcasts and all-around interesting people. As part of a film class, I and a group of other students documented the experiences, performance and art of Flip and the denizens of East Jesus, Slab City, California.
This was part of a student project while I was attending UC San Diego, but we got really into it and ended up driving a few hours east of San Diego and spent two weekends filming on-location.

Over a couple of months, I produced an EP of ambient works in which I played with generative and looping composition techniques. I used both recorded instruments and synthesized sounds and processed them to create soundscapes with motion, weaving in and out of each other. My favorite techniques I used were granular synthesis and time-stretching samples.
